The Shower Renovation

David and I stopped using our master shower in 2008.  We had a builder grade shower with a textured bottom.  It was impossible to clean and the caulk always turned black from mold and mildew.  So we cleaned it and left it alone.  During the next 6 months we had our house on the market and became accustomed to taking a shower in the kids bathroom.

This summer David and his dad began the arduous task of replacing our faux marble shower with tile.  In my opinion, they have done an excellent job.  This was verified when they installed the shower door and the guy said they did better than most builders.

So here are the pictures of the renovation.

The Demolition

All that is left to be removed in this picture is the poured shower pan.  Notice the mold around the bottom.  I sneezed for several weeks after this was exposed. David said it was my imagination.

A closer look at the shower pan.

Completed shower before the door

Porcelain tile on walls, tumbled stone accents, travertine floors and seat.

In this picture David still needed to complete the tub surround. He has done so, but I don't have pictures of that yet.
With door...molding still missing on door to water closet.

As with any project there is still a number of punch list items to complete, but they are 95% complete.  I hope to be using our new shower by next weekend...2 years later :)
