A - Any tighter embrace will also replace
What or who do I put my security in?
2 Tim 3:6-7 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth.
People have knowledge of the truth, but lack its power.
Don’t be a weak-willed woman
Mark 7:5-8
'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 7 They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.' 8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men."
You leave the commandments of God and hold to the traditions of men
Do I let go of God to hold on to my religious traditions?
The moment we fight God’s battles in our flesh we become disqualified.
Death to self = life in the spirit (another reoccurring theme or layer in my life at the moment)
1. We can hold on to traditions tighter than we hold onto God.
2. We can hold onto people tighter than God.
1 Kings 11:1-2 King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women …2 They were from nations about which the LORD had told the Israelites, "You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods." Nevertheless, Solomon held fast (dabaq) to them in love.
Solomon clung to these women in love. A man who was given infinite wisdom let go of the commands of God and was holding to the traditions of men or women in this case.
S - Satan wants what we have
Rev 3:11 - I am coming soon. Hold fast (dabaq) what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.
Satan wants your marriages, you church, your community, your kids, and you FAITH
Live life in the scriptures. They are your sword.
Deut 11:8 - You shall therefore keep the whole commandment that I command you today,
Josh 22:5 - But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you: to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to obey his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and all your soul."
Exercise your faith so that God can fulfill His promises.
Listen to God’s words
Have the strength
Live long
God will lead me through His word
We will never make it to our promise land if we don’t hold fast. We won’t stay there either if we do not hold fast.
Josh 23:6,8 - "Be very strong; be careful to obey all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, without turning aside to the right or to the left.
2 Sam 23:9-10 Eleazar fought until his hand was frozen (dabaq) to the sword. Our sword against satan is God’s word.
We must immerse ourselves in the God’s word daily. Do not let anything sway us from the source of our strength. Because when we put off our obedience to God, we drain our strength.
Life is hard. You can have a hard victory or a hard defeat.
T - The Lord is your life
Col 3:1-4 - If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
NOW CHOOSE LIFE
