!Pumpkin Patch 2011!

I will say it,  I am a pumpkin patch snob.  So when we drove up to the Hall Family Farm and I was NOT impressed.  Last year's patch had a bounce house, a huge farm to wander and hundreds of places for photo opportunities.  The Hall Family Farm seemed to cater to smaller children with simple mazes, a little tykes play area and a "pumpkin nursery".  I tried to convince David to leave, but we had gotten lost on our way and he wasn't willing to try another patch.

I figured we would stay until after the hay ride and then head to Walmart to purchase our pumpkins as I REFUSE to be robbed by the prices at the patch.  While paying for the hay ride I began chatting with the cashier.  She noticed that our boys were wearing VT and Clemson hats and said it was awesome.  After chatting a little longer we discovered she was a VT grad (GO HOKIES). Her husband was a ME from Tech and went on to get a masters in textile engineering from Clemson. Talk about small world.  Well since they were Hokies, the farm couldn't be all bad.

I did not notice the activities on the opposite side of the parking lot.  We moseyed (on a farm after all) over and checked out this great water game.  It was comprised of 8 hand pumps, 8 PVC pipes cut long ways and rubber ducks.  The object of the game was to pump enough water to have your duck reach the other side. The boys LOVED it.  Water and competition...what else was there to love? Mason also enjoyed playing on a real tractor and Mommy loved the photo area.

The best part of the day ended up being the hay ride.  It was much longer than other we had tried and they played cool "Spooky" music.  Ghostbusters, Thriller, Monster Mash, etc.  Finally, the family had taken the time to decorate the path.  It was very well done and gets 3 out of 4 stars for pumpkin patches.  As I have said many times before....Fun was had by all...and then I went to Walmart and bought our pumpkins...3 large ones for $9.  Can't beat those prices!
