Beach Vacation 2014

To celebrate the end of summer break, we spent a week at the beach.  What a great week of sun, sand, and surf.  We chose to visit North Myrtle Beach and stay ocean front. We were blessed to avoid the Kerstiens curse of rain and sickness this trip.  Thanks for all of you who prayed for us.

The highlight of the trip was the big holes that David dug on the beach.  He would dig about 2-3 feet down and the boys would pretend they had a fort or a boat.  They decorated the walls and built steps and chairs out of sand.  As the tide would come in they would battle to prevent its destruction by creating moats and trenches.  Finally once the hole filled with water, it became their personal pool.  People came from far and wide to check out our creations.  Each day we would create a new "hole" and adventures would begin.

When we weren't digging holes we were playing in the ocean.  Logan practiced his boggy boarding skills while Caden and Mason jumped the waves.  After all their play you would think they would crash in the evenings, but after a quick shower we were visiting the hot spots of the beach...Barefoot Landing, Broadway by the Beach and the Tanger Outlets.   Yes, the boys went shopping.  The are crazy about football.  Logan loves the Carolina Panthers and Caden, the NY Jets.  We searched high and low for trinkets that represented their teams.

Though we were successful at staying busy, our luck with restaurants was meh.  Everyone but Logan thought Five Guys at the outlets had the best meal.  Logan felt the all you can eat buffet at Benjamin's Original Calabash was the best.

We had a wonderful time and are super happy to be home.  Mary starts school on Monday and the boys the following Tuesday.  Happy End of Summer!
