Logan's First Day of School: "I played and they did not teach me anything"

Yesterday was Kindergarten orientation. The day started with Logan following paw prints to his classroom, which is decorated with a Clifford theme.  The unit they are studying is Oceans, so the entire back of the classroom had wonderful items to explore like sea shells and lobster claws.  What a wonderful start to the school year and to school in general.

One of the things he did at orientation was create a boy to put in the boat on the bulletin board.  Here is a picture of his artwork.

Mommy made him wear his uniform to school for orientation, which evidently was not necessary.    I am so clueless about this school thing.  I was already called "one of those mothers" by some friends...whatever that means.

So today was the big day.  Logan was up,dressed and ate breakfast without any prompting from me.  All of which is a miracle.  This child takes an eternity to walk across the room.  For him to be ready was a real accomplishment, though he wore half his breakfast on his white shirt to school.

The entire family went to drop him off at school.  It was crazy with parents and siblings running around...cameras everywhere...it was like the paparzzi had descended on Covenant Day.  I mean seriously, the cameras they were using cost more than our TV (which says a lot cause we believe the bigger the TV the better).

Yes, we were right there with all the other crazy parents.  Here he is going into school...

As I said earlier the theme for Logan's classroom is Clifford.  Luckily it is not a show we watch on a normal basis...otherwise we would be over Clifford very quickly.  Think Clifford explosion...that is what the classroom looks like.  Here he is putting on his name tag and posing with Clifford.

If you don't know me well, then you don't realize I LOVE THEMES...I am already thinking of all the Clifford things I am going to look for, including a Clifford stuffed animal for Logan.  It will be a nice memory of his first year of Kindergarten.

Caden, Mason and I returned to pick up Logan from school...again chaos reigned.  When asked how his day went he gave me a look, kind of like rolling his eyes and walked to the car.  This was what I finally pried out of him

1.  He made a friend who was a boy...which is big since all his friends are usually girls...but he doesn't remember his name
2.  They went to the play ground...which "is a LONG WAY from the classroom"
3.  Mommy you didn't pack enough food for snack time and I wanted strawberries
4.  When asked what he wanted me to tell his family he learned on his first day of school he said, "I played and they did not teach me anything"

In conclusion, he already has homework.  The last two nights he has read ...wait for it...Clifford Books!  He also had to complete a worksheet today and has a project due by Friday.  Welcome to Kindergarten!
