Rocks, Poop and Door Bells

As promised, the rocks and poop story.  If you ever have a child that is afraid to poop...you have to tell them this story.

Logan goes to the gastroenterologist because every time he poops it hurts and bleeds.  Logan is very regular, drinks plenty of fluids and eats an apple every day.  Constipation is not the issue.  Logan hates to poop, so he holds it until the very last minute and then tries to shoot it out like a missile.  Due to this his poop gets hard and the force of his pushing causes tears and tears.

So, Dr. Sandberg, goes into this explanation that is priceless.  He explains to Logan that when food leaves the stomach it is watery.  It goes into the colon which is like mommy's clothes dryer and turns into poop.  If the poop stays in the dryer too long it turns into rocks.  Rocks are very hard, right Logan? he nods yes.  So when our door bell rings we need to answer it.  Logan do you know what a door bell feels like?  Logan looks puzzled.  Dr Sandberg proceeds to help Logan recognize the feeling of the door bell and makes sure he knows how to answer it properly.

So now when Logan needs to poop, you will hear him scream "Mommy, my door bell is ringing.  I need to hurry...its gonna turn into rocks"  Which doesn't happen because he takes a healthy dose of Miralax everyday.
