What a beautiful day to celebrate Logan's 6th birthday. I think the temperatures topped out at 81 degrees...bliss. Our day started very early with little ones running in and out of our room. Caden came in to say that "Mason had x-ray vision" and Logan "Get up, it is my birthday" and "Can I have a surprise party, I will close my eyes". What fun!!! Due to pink eye and car problems we missed church :(
We interviewed Logan on camera, asking him questions like: Favorite toy, color, etc. He said he loved school and his parents (smart boy) and he loved legos. He then became really silly and started sucking his toes...ugh! He will see this video at his high school graduation and his wedding....evil mommy!!!
To make Logan's day extra special, David planned to take him on an adventure. We hoped to take him to the Nascar Hall of Fame or Discovery Place, but it wasn't in the budget. Instead, David took Logan to lunch and then on a quest to find his heart's desire...The Lego City Airport. After comparative shopping at several locations, we found the treasure at Toys R Us on sale (TTL).
Caden and I spent the day getting ready for Logan's birthday party. We assembled several Legos to decorate the cake and printed some pictures of Legos. David and Logan returned before we were finished so I sent them outside to enjoy this gorgeous day. Logan was very anxious to get started building his airport (703 pieces), but he waited patiently until I finished decorating.
Logan requested steak, broccoli and rolls for dinner. David grilled the steak and we sat down to an awesome dinner. Everyone commented on things they loved about Logan. Mommy: How he loves his brothers and his sweet personality. Caden said he loved that Logan received the Lego airport and that he shared his Legos (hint, hint). Finally, David said he loved that Logan watches out for his brothers and plays with them.
Mommy decorated Logan's cake with Legos. Mason thought it wasn't quite right and added his special touch by smashing a Lego car into the corner of it. He then ate the cake that fell off and kept chanting cake...cake...cake...French Fries...cake! Logan refused to eat anything after dinner and barely opened his presents. He was so focused on building the Lego Airport (aka: Red Plane) that everything else paled in comparison. That being said, he finally settled down and enjoyed all his cards and gifts. I will post pictures for everyone to see him enjoying his special day....Which he commented to Caden "I can do anything, its my birthday"
The day ended with a beautiful sunset. It is now, 8:30 and Logan has been in bed for 45 minutes and up 3 or 4 times. Due to the excitement of the day and visions of Legos dancing through his head he cannot settle down. An awesome day was had by all!
