Happy New Heart Day

June 27, 2011 was not just Caden's 5th birthday it is also his new heart day.  I said a prayer before I got up for Caden.  It was his birthday and I prayed that he would know Jesus and that He would grab Caden's heart at an early age.  Of all my children, Caden is the one that I worry about the most.  He is attracted to darker things than Logan.  He loves all things rough and tumble, violence, fighting, heavy metal music etc. (not to say there is anything wrong with those things...)

So, Monday morning Caden and I were sitting at the kitchen table.  I was surfing the net and he was playing with his Legos.  He killed his lego guy in true Caden form and the said something like "Big Daddy is dead."  Then he the direction of his convesation changed.

Caden:  Mommy, Big Daddy is going to heaven.
Mommy:  Only if he has Jesus in his heart.
Caden:  I have Jesus in my heart.
Mommy:  Caden, have you asked Jesus into your heart?  He doesn't just come in. (then I quoted some bible verse.  I googled it just now and realized I got it wrong :)  Go figure...can't stop God though!)
Caden:  Can I do that?
Mommy:  Yes. Say a prayer and ask Jesus to come into your heart.
(Caden bows his head and folds his hands.  Then he looks up at me and says)
Caden:  I don't know what to say.
Mommy:  Pray after me.
Mommy and Caden:  (paraphrased) Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner.  Please forgive me and come into my heart. Amen
Mommy:  Well Caden do you feel any different?
Caden:  Yes, mommy.

Out of the mouth of babes.  My heart rejoices at Christ showing up in my son's life.  I know only time will tell and I pray that he meant what he said.  He has mentioned several times that Jesus was now in his heart and is joyful.

Matthew 19:14
“Let the little children come to me...for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”

The verse I meant to quote is Rev 3:20.  I had the picture in my mind of Jesus knocking.

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door,
I will come in to him, and will eat with him, and he with me. Rev 3:20
