Happy 2018

Dear Friends and Family,

Happy New Year!  Y’all our kids are half grown, and our baby will be 10 this year.  We celebrated 17 years of marriage, our first year in our new home and six years of having Grammy with us.  Where does time go?  The days are long, but the years are short.

Our family took a road trip last summer.  We traveled over 1900 miles through 7 states, including visiting the NFL Hall of Fame in Ohio and many different sites in Chicago. We made priceless memories and it was our best family trip to date.

David’s Clemson Tigers are on a roll which makes him really happy.  He attended the National Championship game in Tampa to watch his beloved Tigers win it all in 2017 and they are playing in the semi-finals this evening. He has been at Wells Fargo for over 20 years.  Retirement is nowhere in site, as we still have three boys who need to finish school and go to college.

Mary attended a Technology in Education conference in Raleigh in March.  It really cemented her desire to enrich education by using technology in all types of classrooms as a digital integrator. She continues to teach technology to 3rd thru 5th grade students at a private school in Matthews.  Her first love will always be her husband and family and they keep her very busy.

Logan will be a teenager in February. He started middle school last year and loves playing the trumpet in band. He and his mom read the complete Harry Potter series over the summer.  Everyone enjoyed watching the movies as a family.  He joined the church and had his first communion last year.  His is growing into a fine young man and wants to be an engineer.

Caden may be small in stature but he is tall in personality.    He is still obsessed with football and played flag football in the fall.  School is something he excels at doing and we have a difficult time keeping him challenged.  He loves video games and Pokémon. We rarely see Caden without a football in hand.  As most boys his age, he dreams of playing football in the NFL.

Mason is the life of the party.  He lights up a room the moment he enters.  It is hard to believe that he turned 9 last year.  He loves video games, Legos, lawn mowers and French fries. He wants to start a business where he mows grass for our neighbors.  He already has a business plan, he just needs customers.

It will be two years in April since Grammy fell and broke her hip.  She turned 85 last year and is doing very well.  Her help is invaluable to David and Mary.  We would probably starve if she didn’t take such good care of us.  She became a great-grandmother last year, which made her very happy. Finally, she prays for each of you and wishes you each a blessed 2018.

Grace and Peace in 2018,

David, Mary, Logan, Caden, Mason and Grammy Dustin
